HANCOCK, Md. --
Officials continued Tuesday to investigate a late-night fire that claimed the lives of two sisters.
The girls who died were 15 and 12 years old. Their names haven't been released.
The fire occurred at about 10:45 p.m. Monday at 220 Old Route 40 and was first reported by neighbors.
About 75 firefighters from Washington and Allegany counties, along with firefighters from Pennsylvania and West Virginia, responded to the scene.
The girls were found in a second-floor bedroom. Their bodies will be taken to the Medical Examiner's Office for autopsies.
The girls' mother, Melissa Lindeman, and her boyfriend Clarence Myers, 33, were injured. Lindeman suffered lacerations after jumping through a first-floor window. Myers suffered smoke inhalation. Both were taken to Winchester Medical Center in West Virginia.
About $100,000 worth of damage was done to the house.
The cause of the fire hasn't been released.
