WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, Pa. --
A house exploded after a car drove into it early Saturday morning.
It happened just after 2 a.m. along the 3400 block of Prospect Road in Windsor Township.
Police said the car accident ruptured a gas line and that caused the house to explode in minutes.
There were two people in the home at the time. Firefighters were able to get them out safely.
Police said one firefighter was thrown nearly 30 feet into a field from the explosion. He suffered a broken knee cap and was transported to York Hospital.
The driver of the car, 20-year-old Marcie Miller of Windsor Township and a passenger, 22-year-old Shane Emig, were able to get out of the car before the house exploded. They were both treated with minor injuries.
Police said they believe alcohol played a role in the accident. An investigation is on-going.
The Red Cross is assisting the homeowners with food and clothing.
