DALLAS --

A Dallas family said their pet helped them escape a fast-moving fire in their home near Fair Park on Sunday morning.

A house in 2600 block of Birmingham Avenue caught on fire just after 5 a.m. Betty Brown said her dog, Little One, woke her up. Her son, Cliff, broke down a fence to rescue his mother.

Authorities said the roof collapsed soon after firefighters arrived. Flames were coming from the roof and windows, firefighters said. Crews contained the fire, which didn't spread to the neighboring homes.

No one was injured in the fire. Firefighters rescued Little One from the house.

There's not much left of the house, but family members said they were grateful no one was hurt.

"This is just material stuff," Sandra Turner said. "We got our lives and her life."

Turner said the family had a lot of memories in the house but "it will be all right."

"God takes care of everything," she said. "God is going to take care of this."

Authorities said the cause of the fire is under investigation. Early indications point to an electrical fire, investigators said.
