This morning (June 16) the fire department of Asse, Belgium -- situated near Brussels, the capital of Belgium -- received a call for a fire in the neighbor town of Wemmel.
The fire department of Asse responded immediately and drove to the incident. While driving to the incident the engine of fire department Asse skid on a road near the Brussels highway.
The engine made some head rolls and stopped to a bridge. The driver of the engine died of his injuries on scene.
Four other firefighters were injured; one of them is still fighting for his life.
The fire departments of Brussels, Vilvoorde, Opwijk and Londerzeel came to help the colleagues of Asse to extricate the injured firefighters and to fight the fire where they initially responded to.
The fire department of Asse is in deep shock after this tragic accident.
