ROME, Ga.-- A crane performing construction on North Broad Street and Turner McCall Boulevard fell on a car, but the driver, identified as Patricia Ann Ross, of a Floyd County address, appeared to escape serious injury.

Rescue workers said Ross, who was stopped on North Broad Street, was shaken up but avoided serious injuries. She was taken to Floyd Medical Center where she remained in the emergency room late Monday.

The crane operator is reported to have minor injuries to his back and was taken to the hospital.

The outside southbound turn lane from North Broad onto Turner McCall Boulevard was still blocked at 9 p.m. as equipment was called in to clear up the debris.

DLS Financial LLC is building a multiple story office building and parking deck at the corner of North Broad Street and Turner McCall Boulevard where the crane toppled.
