Two Dead in Pennsylvania Blaze

The occupants died of smoke inhalation.

INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Pa. --

A fatal house fire is under investigation in Washington County.

A couple was killed in Sunday morning's blaze on Poplar Road in Independence Township.

Firefighters say the house was overcome by flames by the time they arrived.

Grover Willhoft, 33, and Jodi Poland, 32, both died of smoke inhalation.

The couple's three children, ages 15, 12, and 10 years old, were staying with friends at the time.

Amy McCartney said her sister was found just inches from the front door.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
