An overnight fire left some Irving apartments residents out seeking shelter from the cold Saturday, NBC 5 reported. The flames broke out around 1 a.m. at the JGL Apartments in the 1000 block of French Street. Police officers and a few residents went door to door evacuating the apartment before firefighters arrived as smoke was billowed out of the windows and the roof. Officials said ten apartments were destroyed in the fire. There were no injuries reported, but residents said with the holidays so close this is a difficult loss. "I don't know what to feel," David Hernandez said. "I just wish this never happened it's all I can say." The Red Cross is helping to provide temporary shelter for the displaced residents.
