Four-Alarm Fire Destroys Michigan Charity's Warehouse

Dec. 2, 2006
Police said this is the second fire that has destroyed a St. Vincent facility, as one of their warehouses burned down 10 years ago in the same area.
A four-alarm fire destroyed the St. Vincent de Paul facility in Flat Rock on Friday, Local 4 reported. Police told Local 4 the local charity has lost everything, including donations and items in its thrift store. Fire officials said all the items in the warehouse aided in feeding the fire, which caused it to spread quickly. The weather did not have an effect. Fire officials told Local 4 there were no injuries in the fire, but there were six people inside the building at the time the it started. Authorities said an electrical fire started in the attic area of the warehouse. Police said this is the second fire that has destroyed a St. Vincent facility, as one of their warehouses burned down 10 years ago in the same area. If anyone wishes to make a donation, St. Vincent de Paul has nine other locations throughout metro Detroit. To see where they are located, click here.
