Lightning Bolt Burns Through Iowa Home

Blaze caused more than $30,000 in damage.

AMES, Iowa --

Firefighters said a fire in an Ames townhome was started by a lightning strike early Friday morning.

Ames Fire Capt. Scott Siberski said the fire at 1511 North Dakota cause more than $30,000 damage.

Ames firefighters arrived at 2:57 a.m. to find the home on fire.

Two of three attached units were damaged during the blaze, but no injuries were reported.
