It took more than six dozen firefighters to put out a fire at an Orange County family's auto repair business.
The fire destroyed the North Orange Blossom Trail building Monday night. It was the last thing Justin Idle and a friend expected to see on a trip into Orlando Monday night.
We were driving down Rose Avenue here and all of a sudden we look to our left and see a giant plume of smoke going up," said Idle, an eyewitness to the fire.
Idle didn't hesitate for long before punching 9-1-1 into his cell phone. He was told his wasn't the first call and Orange County fire rescue were on the way.
We saw several flames shooting out of the garage, lots of smoke going out," Idle recounted.
But as Justin took in the scene, a car in the garage caught his eye.
We saw a car in there with its brake lights on, they were kind of flickering, said Idle. We didn't know if someone was in the car or what it might have been."
Fire crews found no one in the building. Justin could only guess mechanics might have been working on a vehicle when something sparked.
I was in fear of somebody being trapped inside not knowing exactly what it was, Idle said of the situation.
There had been no suspected causes for the fire, although the Fire Marshall was expected to arrive on the scene Tuesday morning.
