Virginia Blaze Destroys Five Townhomes

It took 90 firefighters 25 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

FRANCONIA, Va.-- A fast moving fire destroyed or damaged five townhomes in Franconia, leaving five families displaced Monday evening.

The fire broke out just after 6:40 p.m. in the 6400 block of Dakine Circle in Franconia, Fairfax County Fire spokesman Lt. Raul Castillo says.

No one was injured in the fire, but one of the three-story homes partially collapsed.

Castillo tells WTOP it took 90 firefighters 25 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the families.
