HAMILTON, Ohio-- A fund has been established to assist the family of injured Hamilton firefighter Chris Gabbard, who remains in critical condition.
Gabbard, 32, was stuck in the water near a dam for 20 to 30 minutes April 17 after his boat tipped during a training exercise.
Another firefighter, John Hansbauer, is currently listed in fair condition and may be released from the hospital this week, according to the department.
Two other firefighters, Dan Baumann and Dan Bagley, suffered only minor injuries in the accident.
The department started the Firefighter Chris Gabbard Family Fund and hopes it will help alleviate the family's financial burden.
