Dozens Flee New Orleans High Rise Fire

Nearly 100 residents had to be evacuated and at one point at least one person was trapped in an elevator while trying to escape out of the building.

New Orleans firefighters had to scramble early Friday morning to battle a hotel fire in New Orleans East.

Rescue and fire crews had to put out the fire and evacuate several floors at the B Highrise building on Chef Menteur Highway near Interstate 10.

Nearly 100 residents had to be evacuated and at one point at least one person was trapped in an elevator while trying to escape out of the building.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
