Firefighters rushed to search an Orlando Lake when they got a call that a car was submerged in the water. They didn't find anyone inside, but their Sunday night search turned up some unexpected items near Kirkman Road where the car went into the water.
Divers with the Orlando Fire Department got more than they bargained for when they tried to retrieve a car in a lake and rescue people possibly trapped in that vehicle.
"They made entry and searched the vehicle. Realized there was another vehicle in the lake underneath. So they had to search that vehicle as well," said Dist. Chief Brian Will of the Orlando Fire Department.
Not one, but two cars had been dumped in a lake near Kirkman Road and Raliegh Street. According to eyewitnesses, one had it's headlights on, which indicated it had been there a short while. The other car, however, had algae growth on it. Investigators will have to make contact with the owner to find out how long it had been missing.
In addition, divers also came across a small safe.
"Somehow that got dug up as well. I don't know if that's related to the vehicles or not, added Will.
There was no money found in the safe.
