Union firefighters and the city of York have reached a new contract agreement. The contract ends months of strained relations between the city and the firefighters. But now both sides seem satisfied. The official announcement was made Monday afternoon by the mayor and the union in front of Fire Station One. The agreement calls for a new six-year contract. Firefighters received a 2 percent cost of living increase for the first three years of the contract. They will have to pay more for health care.
