Arrive Alive Conference Comes To D.C. Area

The Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area Council of Governments Fire Health and Safety Subcommittee presents Arrive Alive.

This is a must attend, national conference for all public safety personnel who operate and are responsible for emergency vehicle responses. Conference dates are October 20, 21 and is hosted by Montgomery County Maryland Fire Rescue Service.

It will feature Firehouse.com and Firehouse Magazine correspondent Mike Wilbur, who will focus on identifying common causes of emergency vehicle collisions and will discuss four major areas that affect the way we operate emergency vehicles. The conference is an interactive, 2-day, national forum to;

Reduce the number of emergency vehicle collisions Stop the Line of Duty Deaths involving emergency apparatus response

Breakout Sessions will cover:

Driver Training Collision Investigation Crew Resource Management Driver Supervision and Responsibility Department Policies and Procedures

Guest Speaker, Mike Wilbur:

Mike Wilbur has been a volunteer firefighter for 28 years and a career firefighter with the New York City Fire Department for 21 years.

In the New York City Fire Department Mike was assigned to Ladder Company 56 for 15 years 8 as an apparatus operator and in 1995 was promoted to the rank of Lt. and is presently assigned to Ladder Company 27. Lt. Wilbur also serves on the FDNY apparatus purchasing committee, and has given state certification to the FDNY chauffeurs school. Mike is also a contributing editor for Firehouse Magazine, Firehouse.com and Fire Apparatus Journal. He has also served on the IFSTA validation committees for the Apparatus Operator and Aerial Operator Manuals. Lt. Wilbur in nationally recognized in Emergency Vehicle Operations, Apparatus Placement and Purchasing.
