(New York-WABC, January 29, 2005) -- Police in Brooklyn are looking for a suspect who they say tried to set fire to a subway token booth in the Brownsville section.

The man approached the booth at the Sutter Avenue station on the "l" line just after 4:30 this morning.

He reportedly poured flammable liquid on a cloth, stuffed it through the token booth slot, set it on fire, and then fled.

An automatic fire extinguisher kicked in and doused the flames.

The token clerk narrowly escaped unharmed, and damage to the booth was minor.
