DOYLESTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- One of two men accused of setting fire to Knecht's Covered Bridge in Springfield Township, Bucks County, pleaded guilty.
Tyler Sentman, 19, of Georgetown, Del., pleaded guilty on Monday in Bucks County Court to charges of arson, conspiracy and criminal mischief. He faces up to 20 years in prison, said his public defender, John Fagin. ''He was guilty and he admitted that to police,'' Fagin said.
Judge Kenneth G. Biehn set sentencing for April 5.
A hearing for the other man, Thomas Bennett, 19, of Richland Township, was postponed until April 5 so an attorney could be appointed for him, Chief Deputy District Attorney Gary Gambardella said. The two were free on $20,000 unsecured bail.
Police said Sentman and Bennett told investigators that Sentman had used a cigarette lighter to ignite plastic letters and numbers they had taken from a sign and dropped them onto the bridge and started a fire. The fire caused little damage, and workers began repairing the county-owned bridge about two weeks later.
