DAPHNE, Ala. (AP) -- A popular saloon-styled wood and tin hangout, Judge Roy Bean, was reduced to ashes by a foggy-morning fire.

The uninsured bar burned down about 6 a.m. Tuesday, Daphne Fire Chief Mund Hanson said.

No one was injured.

Owner John Sack said the bar's two mascots - a goat named ``Billy'' and a Macaw named ``Tattoo'' - survived the blaze, but everything else was destroyed.

Sack said he will attempt to reopen by this weekend, selling drinks in the backyard area behind the burned building.

State Fire Marshal Richard Montgomery said an investigation was incomplete.

The bar is closed on Mondays in the winter, Sack said, and workers shut off the power every night.

Judge's gained fame in the late 1970s and '80s because of its color and environment and big-name musical guests.

Customers would often see cats lying on the counter and a goat walking through a mass of patrons who came here over the years to hear Emmylou Harris, the Marshall Tucker Band, the country band Alabama and local favorite Jimmy Buffett, who played Judge's about 25 times.
