Blaze Destroys Kentucky Apartment Building; Firefighters Called Back When Fire Re-Ignites
The first fire started early Friday afternoon at the Executive East Apartment complex on Jennifer Road. Several fire crews responded to the two-alarm fire, which quickly spread from the ground floor to the roof.
Crews stayed on the scene much of the day.
Just hours after leaving crews were called back to the scene for reports of flames.
This time crews spent several more hours on the scene.
Flames damaged 12 apartments. All 47 people who live in the building are out of their homes. The American Red Cross is helping find shelter for the families.
A mother and her baby were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation treatment. Fire officals say their injuries are not life threatening.
Fire investigators say an unattended stove may have caused the fire.
