An insurance company is offering a reward of as much as $20,000 in an investigation of suspected arson fires at a large lumber yard in southern Lincoln County.
Two recent fires at Anderson Lumber caused more than $1.5 million in damage. The company's insurer, Pennsylvania Lumber, is offering the reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the fires.
The Kentucky Arson Task Force is offering a $1,000 reward in the case.
Officials suspect that the fires could have been set by the same person or people who set a series of fires at the historical Eubank High School building, which is near the lumber yard.
A Dec. 30 blaze that appeared to be arson gutted the school building. The structure had not been used for two decades, but it was a landmark in the small city in northern Pulaski County.
Four of the five fires at the school and the lumber yard were set during the early-morning hours, said Trooper Paul Blanton, spokesman for the Kentucky State Police post at Richmond.
Anyone with information on the fires can call state police at (859) 623-2404 or the arson task force at 1-800-272-7766.
