LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. -- The Stuart Hole Fire is 80 percent contained, the Larimer County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday afternoon.
The fire, which has burned 227 acres, was sparked by lightning on Monday afternoon, sheriff's spokesman John Schulz said.
There were 120 firefighters working the fire along with a helicopter doing water drops, Schulz said.
The current cost estimate for the fire is $324,000.
The fire has damaged two to three outbuildings. No injuries have been reported.
Evacuees were allowed to return home at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Residents are being asked to stay alert and be prepared to evacuate if conditions change.
Road restrictions in the area were being lifted at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Schulz said. Areas residents and visitors were advised to drive with caution because emergency vehicles will remain on roadways.
Schulz noted that smoke and possibly flames will continue to be visible for some time in the area.
