Man Accused of Toledo LODD Arson Pleads Innocent

The judge issued a gag order saying the attorneys should not comment on the pending case.

The apartment owner charged with setting the blaze that claimed two Toledo firefighters has pleaded innocent.

Ray Abou-Arab, 61, entered the pleas to 13 counts during an arraignment in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, according to The Toledo Blade.

During the hearing Tuesday morning, Judge Frederick McDonald  imposed a gag order saying the attorneys should not make any statements on the pending case. 

Toledo firefighters Stephen Machinski, 42, and James Dickman, 31, were killed battling an apartment building fire on Jan. 26.

Hours after thousands paid tribute to the veteran and rookie, Abou-Arab was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated murder, each with death penalty specifications; two counts of murder; eight counts of aggravated arson, and one count of tampering with evidence, reports indicated.
