Boston firefighters rescued a cat from a three-alarm fire Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to 9 Porter Street just after 5 a.m. and quick struck three alarms as the fire spread to both floors of the structure, according to tweets from Boston Fire Department Spokesman Steve MacDonald.
Crews surrounded the home and used a defensive stance to knock down the fire in about an hour.
Firefighters rescued a cold, wet cat and reunited it with the occupant, who escaped the fire with a dog.
Fire officials said the blaze caused $700,000 damage.
Towards the end of the incident, McDonald tweeted "The benefit of having shoveled out hydrants. You never know when and where firefighters need them."
