UK Apparatus Crashes into Wall Responding to Call

Five West Midlands firefighters were hurt when the engine crashed into a wall.

Five West Midlands firefighters were injured when they crashed during an early morning response in Audnam, Birmingham.

A crew from the Haden Cross community fire station were responding to a traffic collision on at 3:50 a.m. when the apparatus left the road.

The engine crashed into a wall along Stourbridge Ring Road near High Street, the fire department said in a statement.

“The five firefighters were taken to hospital for precautionary checks," Group Commander Neil Griffiths said. "There were some minor injuries but all later left the hospital and returned to their station, before going off duty and returning home. We will be giving the crew and their families all the support we can.”

Damage the the apparatus was extensive, officials said, but no other vehicles were involved.
