A firefighter was seriously injured battling an early morning fire in Manhattan.

Firefighters responded to the West 29th Street building around 1 a.m.

Flames spread through several floors of the five-story building, according to NY1.com.

Fire officials said six alarms were sounded and that brought 250 firefighters to the scene, many of them for relief purposes.

After several hours, high expansion foam was used to snuff a deep-seated fire in the basement of the building, an FDNY spokesman said.

Five firefighters were transported to the hospital and one was listed in serious, but stable condition.
