Westfield, Ind. – January 4, 2011 – Today IMMI announced expanded availability for the company’s popular SmartDock hands-free SCBA holder. The product is now available directly to all fire apparatus manufacturers and in the aftermarket through various channels of distribution.
"Current SCBA holders require firefighters to operate release levers and cumbersome straps that get tangled with seat belts and firefighting gear," said IMMI Director of Sales Mike Leakey. "SmartDock is the easiest-to-use SCBA holder on the market, and now it’s universally available to the U.S. fire service."
The innovatively designed SmartDock offers single-motion SCBA insertion and hands-free release when the firefighter rises out of the seat. In the event of a collision, inertial forces cause the top jaws to lock around the SCBA, retaining the cylinder and preventing it from becoming a projectile. SmartDock is engineered so one model fits nearly all SCBAs used in today’s U.S. fire departments.
"Installation of SmartDock is exceptionally simple on seats both from Seats, Inc., and H.O. Bostrom, making it a viable product both on new trucks and in the aftermarket to replace SCBA holders that have proven to be very difficult for firefighters to use," explained Leakey. "SmartDock installs with two bolts, and most customers are able to retrofit it in less than ten minutes."
