Ocala Fire Rescue Recognizes Heroes

  (OCALA, FL) On Saturday November 21st, Ocala Fire Rescue honored civilian and uniformed heroes during their annual Award & Recognition ceremony. In total, seventeen Ocala firefighters, two Ocala police officers, a sheriff's deputy and two civilians were honored. Approximately ninety people, including city management and elected officials were present at the ceremony held at the Municipal Golf Course clubhouse.

(OCALA, FL) On Saturday November 21st, Ocala Fire Rescue honored civilian and uniformed heroes during their annual Award & Recognition ceremony. In total, seventeen Ocala firefighters, two Ocala police officers, a sheriff's deputy and two civilians were honored.

Approximately ninety people, including city management and elected officials were present at the ceremony held at the Municipal Golf Course clubhouse.

Service Awards:
Those receiving 20 Year service awards were: Fire Marshal Dennis Lawson; Battalion Chiefs Wallace Brinkman, Rick Doucett and Lisa Gray; Captains Michael Alsup, Phillip Azeff, Shawn Kelley, Roseanne Moreland; Fire Equipment Operators Garry Kirby and Delbert Thompson.

Those receiving 25 Year service awards were: Battalion Chiefs Mark McEarchern and Wendell Rora.

Certificate of Appreciation:
Allstate Insurance Company's Jeannine & Brent Ordway were recognized for contributing 4,000 coloring books with a fire safety message, to be distributed to the children of our community.

Honorary Medal of Valor:
Deputy Jeff Gold (M.C.S.O.) received the Honorary Medal of Valor for his actions taken prior to arrival of the fire department at an incident where three civilians died in a vehicle fire after the vehicle crashed.

Certificate of Merit:
Corporal Joshua Hoffman & Patrolman Sean Young (O.P.D.) were honored for their actions at a fully involved structure that was spreading to adjacent properties.

Campaign Award:
Capt. Joe Talley, Paramedics Adam McCormick, Pat Feagle and Joshua Wilson received this award for volunteering to participate in Operation Honor Flight.

Life Saving Award
Emergency Medical Technician Ed Floyd received this award for saving an infant while off duty.
