Oct. 03--A fire supervisor slated for demotion met with Macon-Bibb County Fire Chief Marvin Riggins Monday to appeal her punishment from a firehouse hazing video.
Last Thursday, Riggins announced that Capt. Stephanie Burke would be demoted to lieutenant and suspended for 20 days -- the equivalent of two months without pay -- because of her involvement in the video prank. The prank, which showed a masked gunman inside the Peake Road fire station threatening firefighters, was posted on YouTube.
Previously, Burke had been given a two-day suspension when the chief decided she had no prior knowledge of the prank.
Riggins now has until Thursday to issue his final decision on Burke's punishment.
The fire department will also be reviewing its policies in the wake of the video prank to see if any of them need to be revised.
