An Orlando assistant chief has reportedly filed a sexual harassment complaint against Fire Chief Roderick Williams.

Jan. 30--Orlando city officials are investigating a complaint against Fire Chief Roderick Williams.

WFTV-Channel 9 reported an assistant fire chief filed a sexual harassment complaint against Williams in December.

"The City of Orlando takes the complaint against Fire Chief Williams seriously and, as with all allegations, we are thoroughly investigating," Orlando spokeswoman Jessica Garcia said.

City officials said they won't release the complaint until a finding is made, citing state law that allows for withholding harassment complaints and investigations.

"All complaints will be investigated in a timely manner either internally or by an outside investigator and the City will take prompt, remedial action if warranted," Garcia said. "We have extensive processes in place so that employees can report harassment, including confidentiality."

She said the city is "committed to ensuring the workplace is safe for all and will not tolerate harassment or any other form of discrimination or abuse."

Willams could not immediately be reached for comment.

Williams has been chief since 2015, when he was appointed by Mayor Buddy Dyer. Williams had been on the force 19 years before being promoted to the top post.
