Albany, NY, Fire Lieutenant Arrested by FBI

Jun. 11—ALBANY — A city fire lieutenant was arrested Friday after a federal criminal complaint charged him with distribution of child pornography.
The FBI arrested 44-year-old Michael Klugo after the East Greenbush man allegedly distributed the image online the day before, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Albany fire Chief Joseph Gregory confirmed Tuesday that Klugo is a lieutenant in the fire department, but declined to comment further due to a pending investigation into the personnel matter. Klugo was promoted to lieutenant in July 2021, according to a post from the department's union, which did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
Klugo first appeared Monday in federal court in Albany and was detained pending a detention hearing Thursday, prosecutors said. A federal public defender representing Klugo had not yet returned a call for comment Tuesday.
The arrest was first reported by News10 ABC. CBS 6 first reported Klugo was a city firefighter.
