National Fire Academy Superintendent is Acting Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator
EMMITSBURG, MD -- The National Fire Academy Superintendent has assumed an additional title -- Acting Deputy U.S. Fire Administrator.
Eriks Gabliks is filling the role vacated by Tonya Hoover, who retired recently.
"This is only temporary. I have no interest in the job," Gabliks said, adding that he loves his job at the National Fire Academy.
Gabliks praised Hoover for her tenure. "She's always had a passion for the fire serivce. And, I'm certain that will continue."
Hoover, a former California Fire Marshal, started in the fire service in Shippensburg, PA, where her father was chief.
In a recent interview with Firehouse.com, Hoover said she wanted to spend more time with her family.
Gabliks, who replaced Hoover at the National Fire Academy, told the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Firefighters Association that the process for selecting her replacement is underway.
"Until then, I'll do whatever it takes to get the job donr. I'll be doing both for a time..."
