NFPA Hosts Conference and Expo in Las Vegas, June 11-14
WHO: The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) in coordination with industry professionals addressing the latest issues, challenges and opportunities facing the world of fire, electrical and life safety.
WHAT: NFPA’s Conference & Expo at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, June 11 – 14. Notable panels include:
· Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response (Tuesday, June 12 – 11 a.m.) – A panel of experts will explain the events that led to the creation of NFPA 3000, a new standard that helps communities best prepare for an active shooter/hostile event situation, including lessons learned from specific events. Panel members, including a representative from Las Vegas Fire and Rescue and a survivor from Pulse nightclub, will speak on the content within the standard and the roles and responsibilities of those working to implement it.
Cannabis Growing and Fire Safety: The AHJ Perspective (Monday, June 11 – 10 a.m.) – This roundtable discussion will address the challenges in fire and life safety facing growing and extraction houses and how to better prevent future incidents.
Fire and Life Safety for Large Festivals (Wednesday, June 13 – 3:30 p.m.) – Featuring the fire marshal of the Coachella and Stage Coach Festivals, as well as key staff from the Burning Man Festival, this panel discussion will address the types of fire and safety issues large festivals present, along with insights into the planning process that help ensure a safe event. Lessons learned and how they can be applied to small-scale events will also be discussed.
In addition, “The Building of Tomorrow,” a virtual reality simulation, will give attendees a glimpse into the future, complete with a smart building and vehicle electrification.
