Las Vegas Department Names First Female Deputy Fire Chiefs

The promotions of Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Assistant Chief Sarah McCrea and Battalion Chief Dina Dalessio come after two retirements in the department.

Two women were promoted to Las Vegas deputy fire chiefs, the first to females to hold those roles in the department.

Sarah McCrea and Dina Dalessio will join Robert Nolan and David Slattery as deputy chiefs with Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, KVVU-TV reports. The department also named Clark County Fire Department Deputy Chief Jeff Buchanan senior deputy fire chief.

McCrea, who was an LVFR assistant chief, has been with the department since 1998. Dalessio, a battalion chief, joined the department in 1999.

The department changes come following the retirements of Senior Deputy Chief Eddie Vigil and Assistant Chief John Hurley, KVVU added.
