The former Baker fire chief was sentenced to life in prison for murdering a Pensacola auto body repair shop owner over a money dispute.
An Escambia County jury on Wednesday convicted Brian Easterling, 53, of first-degree murder.
Easterling shot and killed Michael Evers, 63, in June 2022.
Surveillance video showed Easterling shoot Evers once in the head, WEAR reported after covering the trial.
The video showed the former chief searched the shop for money, covered Evers' body with a car cover, stole his phone and left in his vehicle.
Evers' body was found three days later when police went to the shop to check on his welfare.
After reviewing the surveillance video, deputies arrested Easterling at his Okaloosa County home.
Easterling told jurors that he panicked and shot Evers in self-defense.
But the jurors didn't buy it.
