First Female Ready to Lead Union City, PA, Fire Department

Kayla Hawley has been involved with the Union City Fire Department since she was 14.

Kayla Hawley will be relying on her training when she takes over as chief of Union City Volunteer Fire Department next month.

Hawley has been involved with the department since 14, and previously served as chief of the junior program, Jet 24 reported.

When she dons the white helmet, she'll be making history as the first female to hold the position. 

She's already thinking about things that need to be addressed.

“EMS is definitely a huge problem that we have the past few years. It’s been heavy in the news that we are severely hurting for just funding and getting the resources that we need to be able to keep providing the service..."
