Bozeman, MT, Fire to Achieve Goal as State's First Accredited Department

Dec. 20, 2024
After examining policies and procedures, a Center for Public Safety Excellence official is recommending Bozeman for the designation.

The Bozeman Fire Department is about to achieve a goal that's been five years in the making -- becoming the first in the state to achieve accreditation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

An agency official has been in town examining documents, policies, procedures and daily operations.

And, it appears all the hard work has paid off. After a meeting Thursday, the CPSE is going to move forward and recommend Bozeman Fire for accreditation status, NBCMontana reported.

Fire Chief Josh Waldo said he's proud of the work that's been done to get the department to this position.

“It forces us to evaluate everything we do. From our training, our hiring, the way we respond. It’s going to put a better product out on the street and that’s really what is most important to the citizens and the service we provide."
