A Chicago Fire Department lieutenant died while on duty at a city firehouse early today, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Lt. Patrick Hannon, 51, of Truck 8, was found unresponsive. He was given life support at the station and was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center where he apparently died of natural causes, department officials reported.

Hannon joined the department in December 1988 and was married to a Chicago Fire paramedic, with whom he had two children, the Tribune reported.

"As always in time of sorrow, we offer our support and prayers to members of the Hannon family," department officials said in a prepared statement.
