CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) -- Children of Wyoming firefighters killed in the line of duty will get a free college education under a bill signed into law by Governor Freudenthal.
Cheyenne Fire and Rescue Chief Scott Alvord believes the law adds another life insurance policy to a job that requires employees to risk their lives. He says a college education is a costly expense, something firefighters don't have to worry providing for in the event that they lose their lives.
The scholarships cover tuition and fees at any of the state's community colleges for up to six semesters, or the University of Wyoming for ten semesters.
