A North Texas volunteer firefighter has died after his pickup truck rolled over while he was en route to help battle a brush fire.
The Times Record News reports that Ringgold Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Duncan Henderson, 65, died after he lost control of his 2003 Chevy pickup as he was traveling to the town of Nocona to battle the grass fire Tuesday night.
Police say that high speed was a factor in the crash, which happened on a dirt road sometimes around 9 pm, although the wreck wasn't discovered until about 1:20 am the next morning by a passing motorist.
Henderson, who had reportedly been wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a member of the Ringgold VFD for the last five years.
