A Fairview firefighter was killed last week while assisting with a rescue operation during Hurricane Helene.
The firefighter has not been identified because many family members have not been notified, Fairview Fire Chief Scott Jones wrote on the department's Facebook page Tuesday.
Jones thanked people who haee reached out to support his firefighters.
"The record-breaking flooding from Hurricane Helene has destroyed many communities in our area and forever changed lives and the landscape. Many people in the community have lost everything they own. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the many people who have lost their lives in this disaster."
The Fairview firefighter was the fourth killed last Friday while assisting with the impact of the hurricane.
Blackshear, GA Assistant Chief Leon Davis was killed when a tree fell onto his cab.
Just hours later, Circle, SC, Assistant Chief Chad Satcher and Firefighter Landon Bodie were killed when a tree fell on their fire truck while they were responding to a house fire.
