A researcher with the U.S. Forest Service says climate warming has extended wildfire seasons by 40 to 80 days and is creating more devastating and deadlier fires. 

A helicopter crashed while battling a wildfire in Florida earlier this month. 

After two years of devastating wildfires, Kansas officials started planning this year's wildland season early to be better prepared.
