Police have opened an investigation to determine how Charleston firefighter-medic Jason Cuffee acquired the drugs that were found in the system of the late firefighter, who died last month.
 
Abingdon volunteer firefighter Ryan Githens was one of two Oceaneering engineers who developed an adapter that allows first responders to use their SCBA masks as an N95 filter.
 
The partnership between Lubbock Fire Rescue and Texas Tech University was prompted by a roadside accident earlier this year that killed two first responders and seriously injured another.
