CHEEKTOWAGA NY, OCT. 4, 2014 – Firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in a two-story, multiple-occupancy rowhouse in a suburb of Buffalo. Firefighters made an interior attack, but had to withdraw due to water problems. Firefighters were also hampered by 40-mph winds.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, SEPT. 30, 2014 – A stubborn, three-alarm fire displaced 17 people and destroyed four buildings. Residents of the apartment building smelled smoke at 10 P.M. and began evacuating the building. The fire destroyed several buildings before being brought under control. Extensive mutual aid was called to the scene from fire departments and EMS squads from throughout the island and the mainland. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation.

NEW ORLEANS, LA, AUG. 26, 2014 – An overturned gasoline tanker resting along the center median on Interstate 10 required a second-alarm assignment to extinguish. The driver was able to get out of the rig. Extensive use of foam was needed to extinguish the fire.

HOUSTON, TX, OCT. 4, 2014 – Houston Fire Department District 28 Chief Bob Schlieter, far left, advises a captain where he wants a line stretched at a 2-11 fire involving 16 occupied apartments. Eleven engines, five trucks, two rescue squads and support units were called to battle the blaze, which was contained in about an hour.
