Several fire companies responded to smoky fire at a South Bound Brook restaurant.

A two-alarm fire caused extensive damaged a South Bound Brook restaurant and bar on Feb. 15.

Officials said the fire started in the kitchen around 8 a.m. and quickly spread throughout the structure, which included apartments on the second floor.

Crews from Bound Brook, Community Volunteer Fire Company, Elizabeth Avenue Fire Company, Finderne, Millstone Valley, Somerset Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company No. 1 and South Bound Brook responded to the scene. 

The fire was placed under control in about an hour.
