Seven departments responded to contain a May 26 house fire in Herscher.

An intense thunderstorm passed through the area when lightning struck a two-story farm house and ignited a fire.

Fire spread from the attic to the second story bedrooms.

Due to a lack of hydrants a second alarm was called, which brought resources from seven aprments.

Firefighters held the fire to the second floor of the home.
