Pasco County, FL, April 24

The first-arriving crew of Pasco County Fire Rescue was a rescue (ambulance), and they found heavy fire showing from a double-wide mobile home. It took 30 minutes for members to bring the fire under control. Given that the mobile home was located in a nonhydranted area, three tankers were used for water supply. Additional apparatus that were on scene included two more engines, one ladder truck and a battalion chief. Approximately 40 firefighters were on scene, including members of a RIT.

Meadville, PA, July 26

The Summit Township Fire Department was first on scene and confirmed dispatch’s report of a working structure fire. Crews pulled a 2-inch bumper line. They determined that the only salvageable section of the house was the attached garage. They saved a large portion of the garage, which contained a collection of firearms and ammunition. Nine other departments responded, including the Vernon Central Hose Co. and the Hayfield Central Hose Co.

Boston, June 5

Sixteen companies, six chiefs, numerous special units and at least 80 firefighters of the Boston Fire Department responded to a box alarm that eventually went to three alarms, with flames breaching the roof in multiple locations. Firefighters battled the blaze in the 2½-story occupied residence in intense heat. Because of deteriorating conditions on the roof, a mayday was sounded for a member who was trapped temporarily on the roof. The member was able to safely exit down the aerial ladder. Three firefighters sustained minor injuries.
