Photos: PA Crews Challenged by Fire in Converted Apartment Building
Several fire companies helped battle a challenging fire in a converted three-story apartment building on Jan. 11 in Palmer Twp.
When Palmer Municipal Fire Department arrived around 4:30 p.m., they found smoke showing from multiple windows on the first and second floors and called for a first alarm. Mutual aid from Bethlehem Twp., Forks, Hanover, Nancy Run, Upper Nazareth, Williams and Wilson Borough responded.
Firefighters entered the front door to find heavy black smoke banked down from the ceiling and discovered that fire was running through the interior walls in the center of the building. Shortly after entering the structure, flames were issuing from first floor windows on the B side and additional attack lines were stretched.
A firefighter and resident were injured in the fire that took an hour to control.
