Wind Hampers FDNY Firefighters' Efforts at Bronx Building Blaze
Jan. 16, 2025
Firefighters battled the wind as they tackled a four-alarm fire in the Bronx Wednesday night.
One of the 180 FDNY firefighters suffered a minor injury, but no residents were injured, abc 7 reported.
"The main challenge this evening besides the amount of fire was the wind," said FDNY Chief of Operations Kevin Woods. "Whenever it's windy the fire travels with the wind and the wind had a major impact on this fire pushing the fire across that common cockloft and that cockloft extends or expands every apartment it's undivided in the roof space there."
There were no rescues during the incident that remains under investigation.
