ORLANDO, Fla. --

Hotel guests waited a parking lot after a fake plant caught fire and sprinklers were turned on to put out flames, officials said.

Orange County Fire and Rescue crews said a decorative plant ignited on the twelfth floor of the Lake Eve Resort on I-Drive in Orlando just after midnight.

Firefighters cleared out all fourteen floors of the building. Sprinklers doused the flames, officials said.

A visiting volleyball team was among the evacuated guests who spent the night in the parking lot. The girls had an optimistic view about the ordeal.

"Well we just didn't want to burn," one of the girls said.

Investigators said it is not yet clear how the fake plant caught fire.
